Amex Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Virginia
I received a call from American Express about - - 2016. The agent asked me if I had applied for a credit card. Turned out American Express on - - had issued a card in my name to an unknown ( to me ) individual in -. The person had already expended $2000.00. I also checked my - - Account and noticed a credit card had been issued to someone other than myself. It had not yet been activated so was cancelled. Again, I had not been contacted regarding the address different than the one on record at the bank. Obviously my personal information has been stolen and I am taking necessary identity theft procedures. My main issue American Express and - - is the fact that they issued cards to an unknown in my name at a - address when all my address and all my contact info is in - without contacting me. The American Express person could not answer the question but told me the card would be cancelled and credit agencies would be alerted regarding my credit. I have filed police reports and complaint to FTC.
