Citibank Credit card department,
My bank sent in a check to pay off my card on - -, 2016. Included with the check was the stub from the bottom of my statement that you usually send with payment. The bank then received a notice that the creditor did not know which account to apply the check to and need the account number. I spent several day while working out of town and attending my grandmothers funeral to acquire my account information. I was giving a lot of run around with no solutions. Once I returned home on - -, I began trying to acquire my account number as I had given up while arranging my grandmothers services. The final solution was to request a new credit card with the number on it. Which I believe was deliberately miss filed and I will get to that in a while. In the mean time I continued to receive phone calls that began to become harassing, happening multiple times a day and sometimes calling and hanging up like it was a game. When I ordered the card I was told to wait - to 10 business days. I waited. In the mean time I was still receiving calls. Time after time I asked the rep to check their notes and sometimes explaining the full situation in hopes they would make another note of it and stop calling. That never happened. Finally on - -, I called back after - collection calls that day and asked for my call to be escalated to the highest department possible. There, with the help of my bank the card company was finally able to locate the check which was already cashed and submit a dispute to my account. Today - - I have already received - calls and notified them I will be reporting them. Have quoted the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, even thought it may not apply to them, but hopefully it helps, and notified them I will be sending a cease communication letter via certified mail. Please help.
