Advertising and marketing

Amex Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing District of Columbia

Amex violated - I applied for an American Express because I saw an offer for obtaining - bonus points for signing up for an American Express card. I was approved for the card, but only receive - points. I contacted Amex customer service soon after my account showed only - points and told them that I had a screen shot of the offer that I clicked to apply for the card. I sent the screen shot to Amex and they opened a case for me. I waited about one month and did not get any updates or status on the complaint. I contacted Amex through their live chat option and was told the case was closed. I asked them why and they did not provide a reason other than the offer I clicked on was for - bonus points. I explained to this rep that I sent proof of the offer. The rep then stated that she would have the case re-opened for review and that someone would get back to me. Again, no one contacted me, so I contacted Amex through live chat. Basically, the customer service reps on live chat do not provide me a reason why I

I thought Amex had a reputation for great customer service. What I learned from this experience is that Amex uses a bait and switch tactic to entice customer to apply for their cards to get a certain number of bonus points and do not actually provide those points. How can a mega-company like Amex get away with this? I 've read online that Amex as been cutting costs, especially the customer service area, but they have cut costs to business practices online to avoid following the federal unfair, deceptive and abusive acts an practices. Please help. [ note that I 'm assuming that the - points that Amex deceitfully withheld from me is worth about $200.00 ]
