Amex Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing Pennsylvania
American Express, via their web site for customers, offers valuable rebates programs for various merchants. My wife and I have a household account with AME-, with my card the primary, and her card the secondary. My wife has been consistently going to the web site, being presented with offers for merchant discounts and rebates, which she registers for and then specifically shops at those merchants. The registration shows the primary accounts as " registered '', as this is always how the AME- site presents the - cards - balances, miles, etc. are always shown under the primary account, with subtotals for the - individual account numbers. As things turn out, for this marketing program, and it appears this only, the secondary account does not gain any of the benefits. This is very unclear and inconsistent with the managing of the cards historically. My wife has now spent money on items expecting the rebates/discounts, in most casts on items she would not of otherwise purchased. I believe this is a misleading and deceptive marketing campaign by AME- - especially since we pay for both cards, the web site normally aggregates under the primary number, but for this one program, they treat the secondary card as worthless. At this point, not only do I feel we should be credited the expected discount, but I feel a refund for the purchases are due as we were enticed to spend on things we would not of otherwise chosen. I absolutely believe we are victims of a UDAP violation.
