In - 2015 I requested an e-mail receipt from a vendor. Today after using the same credit card I used in 2015 at a business I had never been to before, I received an e-mailed receipt When I made the purchase today they did not ask if I wanted an e-mailed receipt, nor did I provide them with my e-mail address. After receiving the e-mail today, I searched my e-mail archives and found that the common link is that both companies use " - '' for payment processing. It was a huge surprise to me that this business ( - ) I know nothing about had linked my credit card number to my e-mail address. They clearly stored both my credit card number and my e-mail address to use over a year later without my explicit permission or


sign up for an account which would require providing more personally identifiable information, which I am reluctant to do. They already have more information about me than I want them to have. This feels like an extremely inappropriate way to use my credit card information and my e-mail address. I will no longer be using any credit cards at any company using " - - '' for payment processing. However I also wanted to report this to you since I most definitely consider this a bad business practice, and possibly illegal since they did not obtain my explicit consent to capture and store my personal information. As I researched this company, I identified a separate inappropriate business practice from this same company. I receive a ton of e-mail spam from another of their brands ( - ) at my work e-mail. I do n't believe I have ever provided my work e-mail address to this company so these two things may be unrelated. The common link is same company with multiple inappropriate business practices.
