Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Balance transfer

Citibank Credit card department,

Balance transfer Arizona

Long time cardholder with CITI, no other accounts with them, always 'pay in full ' by the due date, except for a couple of times I forgot and missed by a couple of days, otherwise 100 %. Recently accepted a $ - 'balance transfer ' offer, advertised as - % until -. When next bill comes in, I pay the balance down to $ - and think nothing of it. Next month, same thing, and think nothing of it. This month I check the statement and they 've charged me interest. I call to ask why, and they inform me that " while the balance transfer amount is interest free, you are now charged interest on your " regular '' purchases " because your balance was not paid in full ''. Fortunately I check the statement to see this. This is fundamentally misleading, and they attempt to point me to the language in the CARDHOLDER agreement that says, " If you do n't pay in full on time, we charge you interest ''. Nowhere does it make mention of this in the offer of " zero interest balance transfer

They have, so far, refused to scrub off the interest, despite my 'non-balance transfer ' amounts being paid in full each month. Had I know this was how they would turn zero interest into 24.4 % interest, I would n't have accepted the offer. These guys are required to clearly post due dates, interest charges etc - this is a DELIBERATE effort on their part to benefit by most customers not knowing, and they certainly do n't tell you anywhere on the offer. I have paid the balance transfer and outstanding amounts off, and I am going to terminate the card as I will not do business with such a shady company. I would ask you guys to tell them they must make this in big, bold letters so people understand how they are trying to bait you into paying them interest.
