Citibank Credit card department,
This is the letter I sent to Costco : I am a happy, loyal Costco member. At least I have been until now. I have always had my credit card set up to pay my balance automatically in full each month. With the transition to Citi, I got my first bill and I was charged $36.00 in interest. When I called they explained that the balance " did n't transfer properly. '' They agreed to credit my account for the $36.00, but advised me to pay it since the credit would n't appear until my next statement. Except for the waste of my time, that 's all fine. But I do n't believe the explanation. Many smart people worked on that transition for a long time. If your members were charged interest they did n't owe, I suspect it is because Citi saw the transition as a way to steal a lot of money. Many customers will notice
got a big bonus for thinking of it. What is surprising, at least in my experience, is that this is not the way Costco does business. So my question is : What are you going to do about it? This is their response : We apologize for any frustration this may have caused. We thank you for sharing your comments and concerns with us regarding our transition to -. Please be assured that our transition to - is part of our continuing commitment to provide our members with the best value possible. Your feedback is important to us. We will forward your concerns to the appropriate department for review.
