Citibank Credit card department,
Our Costco card was transferred from - to Citibank, all communication to us was that it should be 'seamless '. The card went active on - and the first time I signed in to set up the account was - ... only to find out that our due date for our first bill had already passed, no notification ... nothing! They transferred my account transactions, but my autopay that I had set up was not transferred. I immediately paid the full balance ( before the next statement came out ) and when I received my statement there was an interest charge of $12.00. I called their customer service and asked for it to be removed, but they stated that it could not be done. I asked how I could ensure that no further interest charges could happen, and they tried to double talk me about average daily balance, etc. They obviously did not want to provide me clarity as to simply ensure that I will not get any more interest changes. I went online to pay any remaining charges off ( and then some to ensure that I would not get hit with interest on any pending charges ) and their system would only let me pay what for what was posted. So based on the reps description, I need to sign in every day now to pay the posted balance so there is no average daily balance ... and stop using the card until it is at $0.00. This is insanity. Either my autopay that was set up with - should have worked, or Citi should have transferred that information over. Costco chose to change companies that it worked with ( to seemingly a horrible company in Citi if their customer service is any indication ), and it ended up negatively impacting me as a customer. An unbelievable unfair practice ... I pay attention to my finances, I 'm sure that there are many others who are more laissez-faire who are getting negatively impacted without notice.
