BB & T offers through their new U by BBT app BB & T deals. I have activated and used many of these deals without any trouble. I just activate the deal in the app, make a purchase with my BBT checkcard, and then it shows up as a pending reward to be deposited into our checking account. The are then deposited the following month. In - of this year, BBT had a deal for 10 % back on stays at - - when paid using your BBT checkcard. I booked a stay at the - - in -, AL, through the link in the U deal offer. The offer also says you must be a member of - -, which I am. Travel was to be completed by - -, which it was. The purchase was paid with our BBT checkcard, and posted under the item " - - - '' on - for $280.00. This would mean a deal valued at $28.00 which we should have recieved from BBT. I waited and it did not show as a pending reward, which I thought may have to do with the fact that travel is completed by - -. So,
if applicable. In fact, based on the deals seen, I think BBT may utilize the same third party for the deals program that my employer uses. I called the customer service line and I was told I had to contact - directly, because they are responsible for paying the reward. I knew immediately this was incorrect however I called - and they had no idea what I was talking about. I also emailed BBT customer service several times and after a lengthy delay got a response basically telling me to call customer service. I then called the local branch in -, AL, and spoke with - who told me he was going to research the issue and get back to me. A few weeks passed and I heard nothing, so I called him back and he told me he did not know anything about the deals program but that he had escalated the issue and I would be getting a call from BBT corporate on the issue. I never heard back from BBT corporate. I then got another reply to a previously sent email communication to BBT which indicated I should call BBT online technical customer service, which I did. At first, the agent also did not know what to do, but eventually told me she was escalating the issue and I would hear back in 48 hours. That has been a month now and still no calls back from BBT corporate or cash rewards. Thus, I am left with no choice but to now turn to CFPB as it seems like no one at BBT knows how the deals program works or how to research a missing credit which I am due.
