JPMorgan Chase & Co. Bank account or service department,
Checking account Deposits and withdrawals Texas
On Monday, - - my husband deposited an insurance claim check from our home owner 's insurance company - - in the amount ( approximate ) of $8000.00 via the ATM at our local branch location in - -, T- -. By - the following morning, I received a notification that my account was overdrawn by several thousand dollars. Upon calling the number on the back of my debit card, I was told that the check deposited was missing my signature and the signature of the - party which happened to be Chase bank and it was the bank 's policy to debit my account the amount of the deposited check until all required signatures were captured, and that until I received a copy of the check ( within -48 hours ) my account woudl remain a negative balance. Infuriated, we contacted the branch manager at the location the check was deposited and continued to receive the run around as to why this happened. We have been told for 4 days now that this is the " bank 's policy ''. At this point, we are dumbfounded. This absolutely makes NO sense. We understand that we made a mistake on the endorsement but logically Chase should have not released the funds to us INSTEAD of debiting our account the amount for the check. Since then, we 've had various bills and miscellanous debits from the weekend post to our overdrawn account and we 've been assessed $34.00 insufficient fund fees accordingly. We are currently in the process of working with the local branch to rectify this situation but I 'm hoping that by filing this complaint, a sufficient explanation can be provided to me regarding this " bank policy ''.
