Continental Finance Company, LLC Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account California
I had a credit card issued to me by Continental Finance, I 've had it for about a year. I fell behind on payments after being laid off. I was finally able to make a payment of - in - of this year. A month later I started receiving phone calls from a debt collection agency informing me that they were contacting me on Continental 's behalf to collect payment on the account. I informed them that I had just recently made the - payment but they advised me that they had no record of that and had just received my file a couple of days before they called me. I called Continental and advised them of the situation, that was when they told me that my account had been charged off and sent to a collection agency days before I made my payment of -. I am reporting them because not once did they inform me that my card had been charged off and was closed. Infact I called a day before I received the call from the collection agency to report that I needed to get a new copy of my card. My online account information shows my payment and my balance and how much credit I have available to me. No where on the page does it show that the account was closed and my card no longer valid. I am in the process now of trying to get proof of payment and that has been a hassle because I 've had - different people give me different steps on how to obtain that information. In the end I am left to fax a letter to a number with no person listed and I am hoping that someone will get it and send me back proof. I have not received anything as of yet.
