JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing Utah
I am a long time customer of Chase bank in good standing and have several of their products. I recently applied for - different cards from Chase Bank on separate occasions, - was co branded credit card, -/Chase bank which I had received an ad in the mail inviting me by name to apply for and the other a Chase credit card. My applications were - denied, despite having a decent credit score. After speaking with a representative about why my applications were denied, I am most concerned by a new hard limit that I understand Chase has implemented recently regarding credit applications. It was explained to me by the Chase representative that if I had more than - new credit accounts on my credit report within 24 months, the application is automatically denied and there is nothing they can do to reconsider any application that is denied based on this rule. Also troubling is that this includes even being added as an authorized user on an account. There was no mention of this when I applied for either of these cards. I feel like this is important information necessary for me to be advised of before hand when making new credit decisions. Applying for new credit is always a calculated risk, since there is always a chance of denial. However, knowing that a denial would have been the only possible outcome, I would have been able to make a more informed decision and would not have applied, having no point loss to my credit score.
