I opened a checking account at Ally Bank and deposited some money. A few days later I was told that I needed to submit identification documents and that the bank would have to review the documents before having access to my account. I have periodically called to check on the status, and I have been asked to submit the documents again. I also asked whether they could instead close the account and send the funds back to me, as I had set up an account at another bank while Ally 's review was going on, but Ally would not do this. I also asked for bank statements so that I may report the earned interest for my taxes, but they would not provide these either. ( I estimated the earned interest. )
