In 2014 my doctor requested that I receive a screening from a company called - - - ( - ) The marketing material provided there would be no cost to me as the patient if my insurance company did not pay the bill. Subsequently, - was found in violation of the Fair Claims Act by attempting to defraud insurance companies and Medicare, and by providing kick-backs to prescribing doctors.They were forced to pay millions in fines and were forced into bankruptcy. A week ago I was contacted by - -, a representative of Monterey Financial Services, - - -, -, CA - demanding repayment of charges amounting to $3700.00. I have disputed the claim, but fear the company will continue to harass me concerning this. In addition, they are certainly going after many others. I believe this is a clear violation of several laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Act, and would appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide.
