Amex Credit card department,
I have - cancelled American Express Blue card accounts that have been cancelled for over 3 years. I destroyed the cards and intended to pay off the balanced. I became unemployed and in good faith sent a small payment each month. Now that I am employed I am working with a credit consolidation agency to help me pay off my debts. They requested I ibtain the - digit card numbers for both accounts, Amercian Express refuses to give me the information stating that they can not do so over a taped phone line. However I am to effortlessly give my social security number over the same line. I e pressed the need to have these numbers is so I can repay my debt, however they are not cooperating. Secondly, they spent a day calling relatives and family of my ex husband to question my debt. I find this absolutely unacceptable as these are people in no way related to these account and no responsibility for them.
