U.S. Bancorp Credit card department,
Unsolicited issuance of credit card Virginia
I applied for a credit card. I was given a different ( inferior ) card than the one I applied for an was told, " oh, well, you should use this other card for 6 months and then you 'll almost be certain to get the card you actually want. '' There are several problems with this : 1 ) The marketing was deceptive. I do not believe they had any sincere intention of providing the card that was advertised. 2 ) A card and line of credit was created in my name, without my permission. There is a section in the terms and conditions ( attached to this complaint ) that states that I may be automatically considered for a card other than the - I am applying for, HOWEVER, it states only that I will be considered for the card - not that I will automatically be provided with - - AND it does so only under the section " Notice to Ohio Residents '' 3 ) There was no indication when I received the card that I was at all different than the card I had applied for. The credit card company was trying to pass off the inferior card as the card I applied for ( see attached welcome letter ). I was also not provided with a notice of rejection and the option to receive a copy of my credit report ( since that was the basis for the rejection ), as is my legal right. 4 ) The whole process has caused damage to my credit score, not only from the initial inquiry, but also from having to close the unwanted credit card.
