I opened a Delta American Express credit card. Before I activated the account, I received a mailer offer for - miles with the same credit card. I called American Express on - - and told them about the better offer. At that time, they promised me that they would honor the offer on the mailer ( Code : - ). I called them today ( - - ) because they had not honored it. They said that the marketing team had decided not to honor it. I feel like I was lied to ... ( I continued to use the card assuming that the offer would be honored and I never received a notification that it would not be ) Their response after a couple of manager escalations was that they made a mistake and would not honor the offer. I therefore closed the account. I would like to ensure that I am not charged the annual fee since I closed the account within 32 days of opening it. I also want to ensure that they do not lie to future clients
