I have a private loan through Navient which they took from - -. I finished - - in - and was told I had already used my deferment, though I was not aware of this, and no one was able to tell me when I had used it or give me details regarding it 's use. They simply stated " it had been used '' and refused to provide further detail. Because of this, when I was unemployed and trying to get a job ( waiting on paperwork from the Board of Counselor 's to come through ), I was missing payments. I called as well as answered when they called, several times and asked if there was any deferment or forbearance or anything available and was told there was not. I was yelled at by the employees of Navient multiple times, interrupted while speaking and then at another time essentially told they could n't do anything so I should simply cease to answer the phone. I finally called the main office and reached my " case manager '' and was told if I made a payment that month my account would not be sent to collections and we could
payment. I expressed that I was informed by my case manager of the amount required and that I had already paid that, to which the response was that it was not enough. I called the following month to set up the payment plan and was given an amount that was not " manageable '' as I had previously been told. I was informed this was my only option without a credit check, review of my finances, and review of my co-signer 's finances. I informed my case manager that I would speak with my co-signer and we would determine our next step. She then called another individual, who was NOT my co-signer, but simply a reference on the loan, and left a voicemail speaking about my private loan information with someone who was not on the loan. I have a copy of this voicemail.
