JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement South Carolina
I received an offer from Chase credit card to transfer a balance with zero interest for - months. On - -, -, I applied for a balance transfer to pay off my - - card. Balance transfer was not approved but they said I qualify for $3500.00 credit line and that they will send me my new Chase credit card in the mail. After about two weeks I received the card but did not activate it since I did not need another credit card. Next thing I know, I received a - - statement in the mail on - -, - stating that a balance transfer was made in the amount of $3300.00 to - -. I called their customer service number and spoke with a " - '' explaining that I did not like it and did not authorize the balance transfer. I said I do not want to be making extra payment on another card that I did not open. I asked " - '' to reverse the transaction because I believe this will affect my credit report.
I told " - '' that I should not be responsible for their mistake and feel that they should " eat their '' mistake and consider it as a gift. Trying to be fair, I said, I will pay them back the amount transferred minus transfer and late fees. " - '' said that I have until - -, - to pay it off, but after that date, there will be interest assessed. This is wrong, since after they did what they did, it adversely affected my credit score. I feel like I do n't owe them anything anymore after the damage they did to my credit. Remember, I never authorized the $3300.00 balance transfer and never activated the credit card that was sent to me. Is this not a fraudulent act?
