JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit Card Complaint

Advertising and marketing

JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing Ohio

I applied for a Southwest Rewards Premier Visa card towards -/-/- in order to receive - bonus points for Southwest Airlines. I was approved and on my first statement cycle, I met the requirements to earn the promotional points. The statement in the advertising said, " To qualify for your bonus points, you must make Purchases totaling $2000.00 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Please allow - to - weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account. '' I spent the required dollar amount within the first statement cycle which ended on the -/-/-. I made the purchases in the time frame I did because of the statement saying " please allow 6-8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account. '' On the -, the points were transferred within the same business day to Southwest Airlines and into my Rapid Rewards account. Because of this time frame being significantly outside the stated - week time frame, the promotional - bonus points did not post in the -/-/- calendar year like it should have in order to be counted towards my companion status. When I made my decision of when

date, I obviously would have not spent the required amount in their first statement cycle or would have applied for the card a week or two later. I feel that if Chase were up front with their customers about how long it takes for rewards points and to let the customer know when they receive their card what their statement cycle dates will be. For me, my statement date started -/-/-, but I did NOT receive my card until the next week. Again, had the statement date been given, and explanation of time frame for points to post to the Rapid Rewards account, consumers can make better choices and better manage their spending if they are trying to achieve something specific. The wording in ALL of their advertising for promotional deals is VERY vague and misleading because it leaves too much to interpretation. It also leads customers, like myself, to have a reasonable expectation to take statements on advertisements like " Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account '' as a definitive time frame. If this expectation is being given as written, and this is a direct quote from their current advertisement ( and was the same as when I applied -/-/- ) than it is reasonable to assume that consumers are going to expect and will plan on it taking that amount of time.
