Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem with fraud alerts California
I do n't see the logic behind a credit freeze being offered free of charge with a valid police report but forcing the ID theft victim to mail all the sensitive information. This is punishing ID theft victims instead of those who choose to file the freeze online for $10.00 with each bureau. The credit bureaus seem to be coercing individuals to pay the $10.00. Being the victim of a recent identity theft, I feel uncomfortable mailing all sensitive information such as the requested copy of a drivers license and full SSN to have my credit frozen free of charge.
