I took a cruise on the - - from - -, - to - -, -. While on the cruise, I purchased artwork from Park West gallery. I purchased artwork on - - totaling $250.00. I then purchase additional artwork on - - totaling $420.00, for a grand total of $670.00. I received a bill from GE Capital Retail bank ( the bank ) in - - for a total of $480.00. The total sum was covered by a promotional deferred interest on the balance if paid in full by - -, -. The current amount due was a minimum payment of $25.00 by - -, -.
the balance was now -. Nearly a year later, I took cruise on the - - from - - to - -, -. Upon checking my - - ( - ) - after the cruise, I noticed a charge of $180.00 to - dated - -, -. As we did not purchase any artwork on this cruise, I immediately contacted - and disputed the charge. - removed the charge, however, I received a letter from - - -/Synchrony Bank ( Synchrony ) dated - -, - indicating that they were investigating the disputed transaction. I received a bill from - in -, -, indicating that I had a $180.00 balance due from a transaction dated - -, -. As I did not make a purchase on that date, I did not make any payment. Apparently, it makes no difference to Synchrony, since I am still receiving bills from them with ever increasing interest amounts for a purchase I did not make. After checking my receipts, I now realize that the bank made a mistake on the amount owed in -, however, I am appalled that Synchrony tried to charge my - account over a year later without authorization or notification that there was any outstanding debt.
