Citi bank hold about $28000.00 of my private loan debt. I have paid them online every month and have not defaulted ever. on friday -/-/- I got a letter in the mail that was a - tax forum claiming that about $16000.00 of my debt was cancelled in -/-/-. when I called I was told they sent one for my - loan as well. So right now the government things I have has about $28000.00 of debt cancelled and expects me to file it as part of my income, BUT it has n't been discharged and I have been paying it the entire time. When I tried to talk to them about it they would only tell me that the documents were an error. they gave me no information about how they were going to fix it, what will happen with my taxes or WHY this happened in the first place.
