Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't temporarily postpone payments Illinois

I currently am paying a private student loan with -/Loan Science, previously - - -, and was out of full-time employment for seven months. After multiple attempts, they were totally unwilling to not only adjust my payment at the very least, but they were also unwilling to allow a forbearance, or deferment. As a result I have not been able to make payments, and they are dinging my credit constantly, and calling my home and my step-fathers ( co-signer ) home all hours of the day. I looked at an overview of my payments and since 2013 out of $5500.00 paid, only $230.00 has gone to the principal, the rest to interest and fees, its really legalized robbery.
