I made a payment to my Care Credit account before the payment was due and before I received a statement. To date I still have not received a statement. The service was rendered -/-/-. I set up an online payment account and made a payment of $200.00 on -/-/-. On -/-/- I logged into the Care Credit website to make an additional $200.00 payment. I discovered the system showed a payment of $25.00 due on -. Care Credit had assessed a late fee of $25.00. I called customer service to ask how I could be assessed a late fee when I had made a payment of $200.00 -. I was told the $200.00 was not within their payment cycle so it was not recognized. When I asked the customer service representative to explain why my -/-/- payment was not recognized she became frustrated and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a different representative and explained I just made an additional payment of $200.00 ( $400.00 since -/-/- ) even though the minimum payment due was $25.00. I was told regardless of that payment, I would still be required to make an additional payment before - - or I would be assessed an additional late fee. This practice is onerous and predatory. I do not understand how making a payment before it is due and for an amount greater than the required minimum could possibly be considered late and subject to a late fee. It would seem to me that any payment made within a cycle would be recognized. I can afford to pay this account in advance but many can only make the minimum payments when due. I ca n't help but wonder how many consumers are being charged these fees despite their responsible attempt to make payments as required. This is awful.
