I 've repeatedly tried to file a fraud complaint with my Banana Republic - - serviced by Synchrony Bank. The fraudulent charges were made on - -, 2015. When I first tried to file my fraud complaint, I was told that I had successfully passed along all information and that an investigation would be completed. I repeatedly called asking for an update and was told that they could not provide an update and that I would receive correspondence regarding the investigation. Four months have passed, and I have now spent more than an hour on the phone only to be told that the fraud department never received the complaint, and that the fraud department ca n't file my complaint without the statements from that month, to which they do n't have access. I no longer have access to those accounts online, because the bank closed the account as soon as I reported the fraud and issued a new card. For reasons passing understanding, the bank 's customer service department has access to the statements necessary to file the complaint, but can not file the complaint for me, according to. And although the fraud department is the only department that can file the complaint, according to the fraud department, they do n't have access to the statements. And, when I called the customer service department to get the necessary information, I was told that they could file a fraud complaint, although I previously relied on this information when I filed my initial complaint, and was later told that this was inaccurate. In essence, it seems that Synchrony Bank is taking every step necessary to obfuscate and block their customers ' attempts to report fraud.
