Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't get flexible payment options Michigan

I am behind on my student loan because I can not afford the payments. I contacted the servicer to see if they can offer me any assistance to bring the account current or at least get on a payment plan. They have no options for me. So although I am attempting to pay because I can not pay the past due balance in full there is nothing they can do. This is very frustrating because it seems that all I can do is have the account go to collections. I have been paying on this account for 7 years now and ran into financial difficulties. It seems that more options need to be available to help borrowers pay these loans.
