Synchrony Bank Credit card department,
An unauthorized purchase of $340.00 was made on my Sam 's Club credit card account - -. When it appeared on my statement, I contacted the issuer and challenged the charge. I was assured in a phone call to Synchrony Bank ( issuer of the card ) on - - that I was not liable for the charge. When the charge remained on my account, I phoned again - - and was told to ignore it. When it continued to appear, along with late fees, I called repeatedly and was transferred to Collections instead of to Customer Service. I finally got through on - - and was assured that I was not liable for the charge, and that I would receive documentation to that effect within 7-10 business days. The documentation did not arrive and the company kept phoning my wife to demand payment. I finally got through to Customer Service ( after fighting with Collections again ) on - - and was assured that my account had been fully credited and showed a $0.00 balance ( in spite of the fact that their computerized system had just informed me it was $450.00 ). I will believe these assurances when I get my next statement. In the best case scenario, it took 115 days, - direct phone calls and countless harassing phone calls to my wife to get this cleared up. Worst case, the saga continues...
