Hopefully, I have chosen the right avenue to lodge this complaint. On - -, 2015 I walked into - - in -, VA. My purpose was to purchase a - Chrysler 300. When I arrived, I informed my sales agent that I had a check from - - to cover the purchase. Subsequent to agreeing on a price for the vehicle, the salesperson brought a document for me to sign. I looked over the document and notified the salesperson that I would sign, but I did not want the dealership to look for financing on my behalf. The salesperson assured me that would not happen. After about a two hour wait, I finally went into see the finance manager to finalize the transaction. About a week after I purchased the car, I began to receive notices from various lenders notifying me that they were sorry, but they could not extend me credit to purchase the vehicle. After receiving several more rejection notices, I checked my credit report and found out that close to - inquiries had been made by the dealership on my behalf for financing. Upon gaining this information, I called the dealership several times over a 30-45 day


me that there must have been some " misunderstanding '' with the salesperson. The finance manager said that because I signed the document that the salesperson gave me, that gave them the right to shop for financing on my behalf. I informed the finance manager that I signed the document with the explicit instructions to the salesperson not to try to find financing, and that the sales person told me the dealership would not be looking for financing for me. Again the finance manager told me that there was nothing I could do. I asked for some kind of compensation for the unauthorized inquiries and again I was told there was nothing that could be done. - lied to me and shopped for credit without my authorization. I would like some form of compensation for this violation of my rights.
