Synchrony Bank Credit card department,
Customer service / Customer relations Wisconsin
Today I went through an automated system for my care credit account to see if I qualified for a credit line increase. In the past a hard pull credit check has not been required. When I went through the automated system it never stated or asked for my permission to request a credit check. Shortly after going through the automated system I got an alert from - stating that Synchrony Bank had performed an inquiry on my credit report. I called them right away and told them that I did not authorize the inquiry and I wanted it removed. They indicated to me that they did not need my permission to pull a copy of my credit report. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act they must notify me that a credit report will be pulled in conjunction with requests for credit. I let them know and they said that it was not true. I asked them to remove the inquiry as I would have never requested a limit increase if I would have known it would have been a hard pull. They refused.
