Synchrony Bank Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Florida
I have/had a Gap credit card since -/-/-, which I have paid on time until recently, when I had a family emergency for which I had to leave the country for an extended period of time. As a result, I fell behind on my card payments for - and -. The outstanding balance at the time was $140.00 of the $300.00 credit limit ; then the outstanding balance went up to $410.00. About a week ago I went online to pay and bring my account current and thought everything was fine until recently, through credit monitoring, I found out that the company closed the account unknowing to me. As a result of this my credit score was seriously impacted. I called the company today -/-/- to get a copy of their written policy/cc agreement showing how/when they go about closing an account, and was told they do not have a written policy, but review the account after 60 days and them make a decision.
car to get to and from school and work and my credit score went so low that I will get excessively high interest rates, an may no longer be able to afford a payment for a reliable car. In addition, I am not sure how that will affect my ability to get a student loan. Not to mention if I do get a car I will also have to get insurance which will be higher because of my now very low credit score. Before this incident I had a - score of almost - now it 's down in the - 's. I do not understand how I could have been penalized so drastically for - credit card with a $300.00 credit limit. I am being treated like I had a bankruptcy or foreclosure. This is not fair I have a good payment history with my other cards. What basis did they use to make the decision to close the card without prior notice? Did they review my credit? I was hoping the - - would work with me to re-age/restore the account so that I can get my credit score back up. They did not help. I am willing to pay down the balance to $0.00 if that 's what it takes to get my credit fixed. Please can you help me?
