I have placed a security freeze on my credit record with all - credit reporting agencies so that I can avoid identity theft. I needed to lift the freeze with Transunion so that I could get internet service. Despite the fact that I provided Social Security Number, Birthdate and PIN number, Transunion would not lift the freeze because they claimed I had not changed my address in their records when I recently moved. However, on their own web site my account showed the correct address. They then required me to answer security questions and refused to serve me because I could not remember the credit limit on an unnamed charge card issued -/-/-. They then required me to fax and mail copies of my drivers license, social security card, and a utility bill, but still did not fix my address in their records or lift the freeze. Finally after numerous calls and hours on the phone someone agreed to lift the freeze and i had to give a charge card number for a $10.00 fee. Several days later I had to call back to get the


question. Could anyone? I just kept repeating that I wanted the security freeze put back on my account and the lift cancelled. Finally they did as I asked. All these calls were handled by people speaking heavily accented and virtually unintelligible - who rarely understood what I was saying and were clearly reading from scripts. I am sure this happens because Transunion wants people to give up in despair and order their so-called identity protection service which costs more that the leading service. They do not want people exercising their right to place security freezes and they make it as difficult as possible. This is not fair. This company should be punished.
