Credit card Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt resulted from identity theft Florida
Toward the end of -, mail was stolen from my mailbox. My mail, including several credit card applications, were found in the home of a man they arrested for drugs. Before the arrest the individual had already initiated an unsolicited application from - - for a $300.00 card. In - -, I started receiving statements for the $300.00 plus late fees. I explained the Post Office notified me of the theft and the card was not requested by me, and I asked for - - to provide the application with my signature. They refused to provide any documentation. Around -, the debt was transferred to Portfolio Recovery Associates. I explained the theft to them, requested documentation showing my signature ( or proving it was falsified ) and they refused to provide any documentation. I requested this documentation by phone and also by mail. Nothing has ever been provided, except random statements showing a debt of $1500.00. The calls and mail have continued for more than 13 years. The mailed documents state, Because of the age of your debt, we will not sue you for it and we will not report it to any credit reporting agency. '' This statement demonstrates the relentless calls are unfounded and nothing more than harassment.
