I have a GM Mastercard issued by Capital One. It was caught in ANOTHER hack of a major retailer, and Capital One called to tell me this, and to tell me they are sending a new credit card. I asked if it would be the chip type, and they said no, they are not doing that until next year. I realize that the credit card companies have been fighting the move to chip cards for years, but you finally started issuing them. But Capital One 's decision NOT to issue chip cards until next year is, frankly, complete and utter contempt for the safety of consumer financing ... ..all the keep the extra $1.00 or so a card that this costs.
