I just want to make the Bureau and others aware of the shady practices of the Old Navy Credit Card. I got the store card to use when it would save me money which was only on certain days on certain items, so I used the card rather infrequently. Because of the infrequency ( Maybe 3 times a year ) I requested that I receive paper bills, so I would remember to pay it. An alert popped up on my credit tracker yesterday and upon investigation I had a bill from 9 months ago with Old Navy that had been stacking interest and late fees. When I called I was informed that because my card was used so infrequently my statements were changed to electronic only without notifying me. They said they were being sent to me via email. Which is of no use because it goes to a spam account that I rarely check, thus why I never requested electronic statements. I feel that it is an unfair practice to change from paper to paperless without notifying the customer. When I expect my communications to come via mail, as requested, I do n't look anywhere else for them. Also


do n't check those types of accounts or it gets caught in spam filters. My initial bill was $19.00, my current bill was $120.00. Upon calling they reduced it to $60.00 which I was fine with paying. I understand there was also some negligence on my part for not remembering to check shortly after I had made a purchase, but I had established a system where I should not have to do so. It was mostly due to the deceptive practices of the bank. As of now I have resolved the issue, if the delinquency appears on my credit report, then I will be pressing the issue further. I want to make others aware so they can be on the lookout and be aware of these types of practices, and I would like for the government to step in and evaluate the ethics of these types of measures.
