Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Michigan
On Friday - - I contacted Synchrony Bank, the issuer of my Walmart Mastercard, to inquire as to the status of a check I had sent over a week earlier as payment which still had not posted. The agent, -, gave me a run around, first telling me the check never arrived, so when I stated I will have to do a stop payment, he told me no, the check has arrived but has not been processed. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, he refused. I had to ask - times in total before the agent would transfer me. While on hold for a supervisor, I received an email security alert from Walmart that someone had just used my account number and social to acquire my online user ID ( email address ). When I finally reached a supervisor '' she stated that he did that to verify my information, problem is the page to do this explicitly states only the card holder may fill this form out. I believe the agent - is attempting to steal my identity or use my email address in nefarious ways and want this issue addressed.
