My JCPenney account has been frozen, I am being charged a monthly & a late fee. I pay more than the minimum monthly amount to help cover the late fee '' and am charged an additional late fee every month. The minimum amount due monthly is $25.00, I pay $40.00 dollars and am on a very limited, tight budget so can only pay an additional $ - monthly for a life insurance policy. Every month I pay a little extra as I can afford it in an attempt to reduce the overall balance. In addition, JCpenney charges me a $35.00 late fee which is added monthly. As of - 2015, the total amount charged to me by JCPenney is over $500.00. Their claims department calls me early in the morning regularly and multiple times daily. The new minimum amount is $86.00 which I am not able to pay. I would like to know if it is legal for them to add late fees to late fees when I have been making payments, even an amount less than they would like.
