Credit card Disclosure verification of debt Right to dispute notice not received South Carolina
Upon application for mortgage, - - informed me of a bad debt on my credit report from Bank Of America ( BoA ). I have no accounts with BoA. I called BoA who stated I had a past due balance of $360.00 on a credit card account. I told BoA I did not have a credit card with them and asked for more details. The BoA customer service rep stated that my current statement showed a past due balance of $360.00. I reiterated that I do not have a credit card with BoA. I then asked when the account was opened, when the charges were made, and by whom. The rep stated that he did not have access to that information and transferred me to another department, at which time I was disconnected from the system. I called back. Different rep. Went through the whole story again. Rep tried to transfer me to a different department. I declined and requested documentation/verification of the debt be sent to me in writing. I provided my current address. Rep said would send verification and I should receive it in 7-10 days. Never received it. Called back a few weeks later, same drill, same

Transferred to me to - '' in the Fraud division. - '' asked me many demographic questions to verify my identity then told me privacy rules prohibited her from giving me information about the account since it was not in my name. I then asked - to remove the information from all - credit bureaus until BoA sorted out their issues. - denied my request as she claimed not to have the authority to update the credit bureaus. She stated the fraud investigation would take approx 30 days. I told her this was unacceptable as I was in the mortgage underwriting process and BoA needed to take care of the situation. I again requested verification/documentation of the debt on my credit report as I had nothing in writing from BoA as of this date. Citing privacy concerns again, - '' transferred me to another department, where I was promptly disconnected. Called back. Got - ''. Explained the situation to -. - unable to help. Transferred me to - ''. Explained the situation to -. - explained she was unable to help. Requested - send me documentation of the account, the charges, and status of account. - only had access to - and - statements and agreed to send them to me even though they did not contain data about when acct was opened, what the charges were, or when the charges were incurred. I asked her to transfer me to someone who could provide that information. - transferred me to another dept where I was promptly disconnected ( again ). I have made numerous attempts to obtain verification of this debt with BoA and they simply can not /will not comply. I can not file disputes with the credit bureaus at this juncture because I can not close my mortgage loan with open disputes on my credit report. I 've been getting the runaround since - and I 'm hoping you can encourage BoA to provide the debt verification/documentation to which I am legally entitled.
