Other (phone, health club, etc.) Disclosure verification of debt Not given enough info to verify debt New York
Dear Sir/Madam : The below collection agency has been calling me about a debt that I am disputing from an apartment that I moved out of at the end of my lease ( -/-/2014 ). The apartment is in New York - - - - - -. I left my apartment on legal terms as I was supposed to at end of lease and left my new mailing address. I never received any mail or contact from - - at my new address advising that I had a debt to pay for apartment damages. I only received notification directly from this debt collector almost five months later ( enclosed ). The only evidence they sent me is an inspector 's checklist stating the damages, with no pictures. What rooms are the damages in? Even if they had shown pictures, this complex has - residential buildings with - apartments. It would be very easy for them to take pictures of any apartment. I know that I did not make these damages and I want to see pictures prior to me moving in as proof of damages. Also, as I explained to them, New York landlords can not charge for normal wear
fix-ups '' needed would have already been done during a renovation. It is also my understanding that - is very negligent to their renters. After receiving these charges from the debt collector, I received a 'Thank You ' card ( enclosed ) at my new address thanking me for renewing with -. That shows me that they do not care for their residents to pay attention to the details and they did actually have my new address. They could have sent me these charges themselves so I could handle it directly with - versus sending the charges directly to a debt collector. In fact, if anyone were to look at - - - - on -, they would see how much debt they are trying to recover. This is just another reason why I think they are just trying to pinch every penny they can out of their residents. The collection representative, - -, has called me multiple times now and continues to harass me and speak over me making it a very frustrating call. He will not give me details on how I can dispute or when they would send my debt to the Credit Bureau. He only says it could be at the end of the month but he does n't know.
