My mother and I were on a CD together at PNC Bank. She unexpectedly passed away in - -/-/-. I let the CD roll when it came due in - -/-/- since I was unprepared to deal with that after her recent passing. In - of -/-/-, as I was trying to close my mom 's estate, I went to the PNC Bank branch in - -, Alabama and provided all necessary documentation to remove her name from the CD. In the course of removing her name, I was then charged a fee of $40.00 as a early withdrawal penalty ''. I was told at the time that this was necessary and could not be waived even though I was leaving the funds on deposit with PNC Bank and remaining as a customer.
