Credit reporting company's investigation Inadequate help over the phone New York

received my on line credit report. disputed some of the accounts. some were removed but a few were on summery. called again to ask to have them removed and was told they could keep them on record for 10yrs. these accounts are in good standing but go back to -/-/-,-/-/-. i would like to get them removed, because they look active even if being closed fo so long.
