I work for a - as a -. Over the past year, colleagues have received messages, ostensibly intended for me, at various numbers throughout the department. The messages are rapidly spoken, and a phone number is left. When I have attempted to contact someone at that number, a representative insists that I confirm my social security number before they will release information. Naturally, I refuse to disclose any personal information until they inform me of the reason for the phone call. The only response I 've been given is that the call is in reference to a personal business matter ''. I refuse to provide these scammers my personal information and having them contact various colleagues throughout my department is highly embarrassing.
