Amex consumers have reported over 16 official complaints related to Debt was paid. Out of the 16 consumer complaints against Amex, 31% were disputed by the consumer (i.e. the consumer was not happy with how Amex responded to their complaint) and 100% were processed in a timely manner. 6% of consumer complaints against Amex resulted in the consumer receiving monetary compensation (e.g. money, cash reimbursement, etc.) and 31% resulted in non-monetary compensation.

Amex Debt collection cont'd attempts collect debt not owed debt was paid May 1, 2015 - - - - called to say if i paid of my debt within a certain time frame that American express would reinstate my credit card and that my credit would show an active account. They took my money and my credit report states my american express account was charged off negatively effecting my credit.
