I got a message from someone claiming to be a process server. He told me that he has papers in my name and social security number to serve me and that he would be serving me papers at my home or place of employment. He left a toll free number to call back with a case number to reference. I call back and they say they are mediators calling on behalf of Wells Fargo for a debt that is at least ten years old. A man named - - says say that if I arrange payment that day Wells Fargo would no longer sue me. They say they are a company called - - - and offer mediation services. They say that if I don't pay on the phone I will be served papers and have to appear in court and will owe 4 times the amount if they take it to court. He told me that Wells Fargo wins 97 % of cases. He scares me into making a payment plan which I immediately cancelled after I got legal advice. They sent me an email afterwards and the email was not from the mediation company they claimed to be from. It turned out to be from - - - -. Never once did they say this was an attempt to collect the debt or send me notifications. He also bullied me by telling me the statute of limitations was not over because they sent me a letter in 2015 ( which I never acknowledged ). He harassed me and threatened to call my employment.
