Closing/Cancelling account California

Synchrony Bank CONVERTED my Banana Republic store charge card to a Visa credit card. In the process they reported to the credit agencies that this account was closed and that a new account was opened. I never authorized such a change, nor did I request it, this was a unilateral conversion on the part of Synchrony Bank and the card should be reported to the credit bureaus reflecting the ORIGINAL opening date of -/-/2005.
