Credit Acceptance Corporation Debt collection department,

Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Maryland

Credit Acceptance has continued to try and collect on an account that I was told by a representative from their company that I was no longer responsible for. Upon receiving correspondance from another representative from this company, they try to act as if now they never told me that I would no longer be responsible for the balance owed after I returned the car. They have also been engaging in some unethical practices such as removing the entire balance that I do not owe after I disputed this account and then went back and changed the amount owed to $3700.00. If i was verbally told that the balance would be forgiven I feel it is very unethical for them to now go back on their word and try to recollect this money. I also do not appreciate the fact that after disputing this account, they reported the balance as $-, and then went back and reported the balance as $3700.00 as well as reporting several late payments, a repossession status and adding derogatory marks to my credit report and causing a large drop in my credit score. This is an example of them reporting incorrect information which is grounds for removal of this account. This car was voluntarily returned to them by me, so them changing the status to " in repossession '' is them lying. I believe that they are doing this to be spiteful and retaliate for me filing a complaint and I would like them to stop reporting this negative account to my credit profiles. I have attached a picture that I took from my credit profile showing that the account balance was reporting as $- and then they went back and began reporting it again as $3700.00, which I know is illegally reporting inaccurate information and I want this account removed. By law, they are required to remove this account and I will hire an attorney if I need to.
