Citibank Credit Card Complaint

APR or interest rate

Citibank Credit card department,

APR or interest rate Florida

On - -, - I contacted CitiCard regard ing my CitiForward to make inquiry on my Visa Signature Account. Upon inquiry as to the interest, I was advised that the account was in default status due to a payment received one ( 1 ) day late stemming from a one day late payment made in -, -. At that time I advised the representative that time due to death in my immediate family and being out of town I did not make the payment. Subsequently a payment was made, as well as a request for a one time waiver of the late fee. Same was granted based the account history. Additionally, I made inquiry as to whether the interest rate would be affected due to the late payment. I was informed by the account specialist that the account was not showing an increase in the rate and that same would be showing on the account already if applied. Based on that statement I made no further inquiries as to any increases in the rate. According to the credit card reform act of -, a credit card issuer must advise the consumer of any increase in interest in writing prior to adjusting same. I received no such correspondence advising me of such increase. Additionally, the Act states " if you are 60 days late on a credit card payment, then your issuer can raise your interest retroactively, but you must be given the opportunity to earn back your previous rate if you make your minimum payments on time for six months ''. This opportunity was not afforded to me by the issuer as no additional payments were late after the -, - payment. However the issuer did not re-evaluate the account at six months, but rather continued to access the account a 29 % interest rate and would have continued to do so if not for my inquiry of today, - -, -. I am seeking to recover the additional interest charged on the account from -, - thru -, - in the amount of $210.00.
