My father died -/-/- leaving his checking account to me and my - siblings by designating us as equal beneficiaries using a Pay On Death instruction. We all live in different states. It has been a nightmare dealing with this bank. Today, my sister, the executor for my father 's estate, went to the - NC branch to close the account. She had in her possession a certified death certificate. The bank issued a cashier 's check to her in all - of our names. THE CHECK IS USELESS!!! We live in - different states, ca n't get together to sign this useless check so that it can be cashed and the funds disbursed as per my father 's POD. AND SHE WAS TOLD SHE COULD NOT RETURN TO THAT BANK BRANCH TO CASH IT EVEN IF SHE COULD MANAGE TO GET OUR SIGNATURES ON THE CHECK. No bank will take a check made payable to - individuals. So, BB & T, you are still holding our money hostage! The account has been closed and we have a useless cashier 's check that NO BANK will cash. Now we have to hire an attorney to sue your bank to get our money. Is this how you treat your customers? Even though your " customer '' is deceased, we became your customers at the time of my father 's death. What is so hard about closing an account and issuing separate checks to the - named beneficiaries? I 'll probably not hear anything from you in reply to this post. You did n't reply to my first post yesterday either. But I will continue to post my complaints until this gets resolved. You do not do business in an honorable way and I am glad that I do not bank with you.
