Our home loan was in my husbands name only. He died in 2014. I kept up the payments as long as I could but had to sell the home in -. After we closed, they sent an overage check for $ - addressed to my dead husband after I had sent them multiple copies of his death certificate. Went to the local branch and they told me to send the check back and they would reissue in my name. They did not, they sent a letter telling me I need a copy of a filed and recorded executor document. I went to the county and they told me they could n't do that for me. I have sent US Bank a copy of the grant deed with my name on it and the interspousal grant deed that we both signed when we bought the house. US Bank said that want 's good enough.
