Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Trouble with how payments are handled Arizona

My husband and I co-signed - loans through WF when our daughter started college in 2010. We were VERY hesitant about c0-signing, but since the financial aid she was receiving was not enough to cover the cost, we felt like our hands were tied. We were assured it was relatively easy for the student to remove us once she graduated and began repayment. Here we are 6 years later, she dropped out of university, went to a - college, incurring more student loans and left that without a degree. She works for minimum wage, married to a guy who refuses to work, and she has decided that she does n't " ca n't '' pay the loans. Which means WE are now paying the WF student loans we co-signed and she has no intentions of repayment. Her husband has said " let your parents pay it. '' I am a - and have my own student loans that I will be re-paying until AFTER I retire. AND now I 'm stuck with her loans. I am frustrated because I feel like this system is enabling my daughter to be financially irresponsible. If she does n't pay, we have to pay

go after HER for payment, instead of forcing us to pay? Are there any programs available for parents in our situation? We know that when we co-signed we were legally agreeing to pay in the event our daughter could not, however our hands were tied. Federal financial aid said we were responsible for paying part of our daughter 's college education ( which is ridiculous - I 'm a - in AZ! ), and in an effort to be supportive of her furthering her education, we felt guilted into co-signing her loan. Afterall, did n't we want our child to be a part of the American dream and help her succeed as a responsible citizen? Now I see this whole situation as a means of entitlement for this - generation, and the government and financial institutions are encouraging their lack of responsibility. Why ca n't Wells Fargo go after my daughter, garnish her wages, hold her accountable? Why does the government expect parents who are making ends meet expected to pay thousands of dollars per semester for their children to go to college - especially when they are trying to repay their own student loans? There has to be a solution for this. Is there a grass-roots movement out there working to change this? Parents should not be responsible for paying their ADULT children 's educational loans. Why ca n't WF force my child to pay her debts?
